Rules of the Library in Albert Vetési Secondary Grammar School

Rules and Regulations, Appendix 3

All the students and employees may become the member of the library during the time of their legal relation to school.

There is no registration fee. Upon registration the library member is obliged to comply with the rules of the library.

The library may be used by registered members during the opening hours. Opening hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 08 -15
  • Friday: 08 -14

All documents may not be taken out from the library only by the permission of the Librarian. On every occasion 5 volumes at most may be borrowed for 3 weeks. The works of obligatory literature are permitted to be borrowed for only 1 week. Teachers and students preparing for schools competitions may be granted a special permission upon request. The borrowing period may be extended only once.

Documents can be borrowed from the library until the end of the school year, the borrowers are expected to return books when the school year finishes. The so-called long-lasting, durable textbooks are the possessions of the school, which may be borrowed at the beginning of each year and are to be returned when the school year is over. Any borrowers who fail to return them or damage them must refund their full price. Occasionally the Librarian asks the class teachers to help with arranging the troublesome situations.

The school library may transfer documents into special classrooms and science labs. The stock is handed over to the appointed teachers at the beginning of the school year and they are to return them at the end of it. The appointed teachers bear financial responsibility for the document stocks.

Reference books, encyclopaedias, lexicons, dictionaries, periodicals and non-printed documents may only be used on-site except for teachers who may borrow them occasionally for lessons.

Readers must use the library documents carefully. Damaged or lost documents are to be replaced by the borrowers. All the expenses of a damage or loss – which is always the purchase price of the time – should be paid by the reader who caused the damage. This can be a much higher amount than the original price. Eventually the library may accept a document of the same scope in return, which is equivalent to the price of the lost or damaged issue. Coats and bags are not allowed to be taken in the library, they need to be left in front of the reception desk, to the right of the entrance of the library.

Having food and drink is not permitted in the library. /Breaking this rule entails punishments, e.g. compulsory communal work in the library/

Graduating students must return all the borrowed books to the library before starting their final examinations.

Before the end of an employment relationship or student status, the school secretary / appointed by the headmaster/ is in charge of checking whether the person concerned has returned all the borrowed books to the library. The school secretary shall issue a certificate about this administrative operation.
